Soft rubber eyecup for my Sony A7RII
After I did a review of another cheap eye cup “DK-19 for Nikon Eyecup D800 D700 D4 D3 D3X D3S” I got myself this version which is made for Sony A7 Series.
Here are the different eyecups I have:
Removing the original eyecup:
The Sony A7RII eyecup is rather tough to get off unless you know how. You can use both your thumbs and lift the sides up. In the picture I used one hand cause needed to use the other hand to take a picture. It was a simple swap. No modifications needed.
This is the kind of eyecup I was looking for. It would be great for both my photography and videography. It was very comfortable to use and it blocks out all the light. The sensor is not blocked and it works well. Other than working as stated, its not perfect.
When you place your face comfortably in the eyecup, the above screen is blocked. You have to adjust the camera so that you can see the full screen. This is due to the sensor taking up space. I suspect that the eyecup rubber is form the standard Nikon inner circle size. And they just made the plastic clip to fit the Sony. Also the plastic clip does not cover the eyecup section nicely but thats just cosmetic. No big issue. Overall its a good buy.
Very comfortable to use
Blocks out all the light
No modifications needed
Have to adjust your eye position to see the whole screen.
